Here’s where we’ll be heading next week – a gin-inspired pop-up open from 19th – 24th May at the very amazing Callooh Callay in London. Bombay Sapphire’s Imaginarium is a place of inspiration and imagination where everyday cocktails are transformed by the creativity of two of the UK’s finest mixologists – Sean Ware, Bombay Sapphire UK Brand Ambassador, and Richard Woods from Duck & Waffle, the 2014 winner of the UK & Ireland Most Imaginative Bartender competition.
Offering a menu of ten Bombay Sapphire inspired drinks, Richard will showcase a series of uniquely crafted gin cocktails as well as his competition winning serves; Mind Your Peas & Q’s and Blue Cheese & Chocolate Martini. The drinks on the menu at the Imaginarium include –
· Mind Your Peas & Q’s
· Blue Cheese & Chocolate Martini
· Yuzu Martinez
· Essence of Mary
· Ultimate Gin and Tonic
· The Artist’s Impression
· Bitter Gin Sling
· Fig Leaf Negroni
· Oops-a-Daisy
· Sparkling Gimlet
Richard’s re-imagined twist on the Ultimate Gin and Tonic, named Mind Your Peas & Q’s, combines Bombay Sapphire with garden peas and mint with tonic water, while the Blue Cheese & Chocolate Martini, sees sweet and savoury flavours and different mouth feels combine to make an unusual and unique serve.
The Bombay Sapphire Imaginarium will also offer a series of free Gin masterclasses on 20th, 21st and 22nd May between 6-7pm. Hosted by Rich Woods and Sean Ware, consumers can discover the essential ingredients needed to re-create some of the Imaginarium’s impressive serves, plus learn the skills needed to craft beautiful cocktails at home.
Richard Woods commented: “The Bombay Sapphire Imaginarium is a place of inspiration and pushing the boundaries of cocktail creativity. For me cocktail consumption and creation is an experience, providing an opportunity to play and experiment with flavour pairings. Hence the inclusion on my menu of drinks that have a host of unusual and aromatic ingredients at their core in order to deliver a unique sensory experience. The cornerstone of each is of course Bombay Sapphire and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to host my own gin-inspired pop-up in collaboration with Bombay Sapphire gin in the run up to the World’s Most Imaginative Bartender Global Final.”
Richard’s skill and imagination will also be rewarded as he participates in the Bombay Sapphire World’s Most Imaginative Bartender Global Final next month from 8th – 13th June in London. Competing against 15 bartenders from across the world, all finalists will receive the chance to visit the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill and learn more about the unique history of the brand. They will then be encouraged to use these experiences as inspiration to create an imaginative cocktail with the ultimate goal of being crowned the World’s Most Imaginative Bartender 2014.
