Beefeater Gin’s super premium expression, Beefeater 24, has unveiled a stunning, limited edition pack based on a hand-drawn illustration by ink evangelist, Johanna Basford. The painstaking design – which features a unique peacock motif, inspired by the 12 fine botanicals and exotic teas that give Beefeater 24 its distinctive recipe – has inspired the brand to launch a competition to find the design that will define next year’s limited edition.
Open now and with students from the Slade School of Fine Art invited to take part, the challenge will be to produce a hand-drawn illustration evoking the theme of “Distinguished British Country Chic”; traditional, romanticised, relaxed yet elegant and social. The theme has been left intentionally broad to allow for a degree of creative interpretation, but those looking for further inspiration should visit the competition’s dedicated page www.Beefeater24inspires.co.uk. The page will showcase entries, provide competition updates and answer any questions potential entrants may have.
Paco Recuero, Global Brand Director of Beefeater 24 says, “Beefeater 24 is imbued with artisanal qualities, from the bottle design inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement to the spirit itself, which is based on a recipe that took 18 months to develop and is made from hand-selected botanicals. A partnership within the arts community is therefore a natural extension for the brand and we cannot wait to see the designs and interpretations that this British country theme will inspire for next year’s limited edition.”
The competition will be open for entries until the 7th July 2013, and is open to UK residents only. Three finalists will be selected and invited to meet the judging panel, which will include Johanna Basford herself. The winner will not only see their design reproduced to form the basis of the 2014 limited edition pack, but will also receive a bursary prize of £1,000. Entries should be sent to inspired@beefeater24.com
