Serves 1 (double up for larger quantities)
What with British weather actually turning out okay this year for a change we’re definitely in a Pimms summer. Lots of people have been criticising the makers of Pimms for dropping its ABV but not reducing the price. It’s currently at 25% ABV and it’s not cheap. So just make your own:
- 1 oz Gin
- 2/3 oz Sweet Vermouth (Red)
- 1/3 oz Dry Vermouth (White)
- ¼ oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 3 Dash Orange Bitters
Mix all the ingredients together and serve with ice and lemonade. You can experiment by adding a slug of sherry or a few drops of Angostura. The bitters are a must.
Garnish: plenty of cucumber, mint and fruit. I’ve used peaches in ice blocks to add some chill.
